Big Things and Me
The exact number of Big Things is unknown as definitions vary, existing ones are removed or demolished, and new ones are built (e.g., The Big Garden Hose, Brisbane, 2025). There are, however, several hundred across Australia.
I saw my first Big Things on a roadtrip from Melbourne to Townsville in 2017 and started photographing them. I have now seen more than 100. Below are 50 of my favourites, some of which are now gone, like the Big Captain Cook. Click to expand.
